Court Probation

Community Service Work Program

Perform community service work throughout the county

The Community Service Work Program lets participants repay the community for damages they have caused. Community service is often ordered by the court and is not paid. This program helps:

  • Make the public safer

  • Increase pride in the community.

  • Restore community acceptance toward the individual

  • Provide positive interactions between the client and the community

The program offers three different project components for participants. The three components are outlined below.

Work Crews

Work Crews provide daily, weekday Community Service Work opportunities at various locations throughout the city and county. The Probation Officer schedules the participant on the work crew.

Approved Agencies

Approved agencies provide community service participants with approved non-for-profit organizations throughout the county where they can complete their community service work hours.

Special Saturday/Weekend Projects

Special Saturday and weekend projects are available through coordination with neighborhood associations, churches, and other not-for-profit agencies. Participants receive immediate positive feedback for the help they have done.

Find a list of current community service work opportunities to fulfill community service obligations. Contact the Community Service Work Coordinator, Staci Wilson, at Probation-CommunityWork@indy.gov for additional information about the program.

A survey is now available to provide the department feedback regarding a client's community service work experience. Please complete the community service work survey upon completion of service hours. You do not need to provide your name.
